BLOCK & BRICK CAVITY WALL

Modern buildings are designed, not to prevent moisture from entering, but rather to accommodate moisture once it has entered the cavity wall. Given the fact that a building's cavity wall is designed to accommodate moisture, and that moisture contributes to the loss of thermal resistance (R-value) of the cavity wall insulation, IT IS CRITICAL that R-value retention in a moist environment, along with adequate air/vapor control, be the most important factors to consider when choosing a cavity wall design. Installed on the exterior of block backed cavity walls, rigid foam insulation from Dow along with an air/vapor barrier from Henry, help moderate the cavity temperature and airflow, reducing the potential for condensation and mold.
