September, 2006: Dow Granted MEA Approvals in New York City. The NYC DOB approvals mean that customers can now specify STYROFOAM and THERMAX insulations for non-combustible construction without the previously required 3" of un-pierced masonry around window and door openings. With 1" R-values of 5.0 for STYROFOAM and 6.5 for THERMAX, these insulations will help meet new energy codes and add to a building's USGBC LEED Green Building rating.

January, 2005: G-P Gypsum Corporation announces the introduction of the next generation interior wallboard.
The enhanced DensArmor Plus paperless interior wallboard offers superior resistance to moisture and mold for the interior wall applications and has glass mat surfaces that finish like paper faced gypsum. July 1, 2004: Commercial mortgage lenders set new guidelines for loans due to mold problems.
A recent article in Mortgage Banking Magazine by Charles Perry, Jr., outlines the changes lending institutions are likely to put into place to protect their portfolios against mold problems. Mr. Perry points out that the insurance industry is excluding mold protection in their policies. This leaves the lenders who typically hold 80% of the risk of the property exposed to potentially non-performing loans, when mold becomes an issue. Click here for entire article.
Atlanta, GA, April 12, 2004: G-P Gypsum announces the discontinuation of paper faced exterior gypsum sheathing.
Paper faced gypsum sheathing has served the marketplace for many years. It has provided much needed fire resistance for many commercial and residential applications. However this product also has significant limitations, especially when it comes to its reaction to moisture.

Midland, MI, April 12, 2004: Dow Chemical launches the latest version of the Dewpoint Analysis program, version 8.
This program can be a powerful tool to better understand the potential for condensation in wall and roof assemblies. When properly used, it can illustrate how to design building envelopes to better resist water vapor condensation.

February 26, 2004: Henry, Georgia-Pacific & Dow Chemical have issued a joint tech note on recommendations for building steel stud walls.
This recommendation is based on the best practice for eliminating condensation inside a steel stud cavity.
